This June marks the 24th National Safety Production Month. Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) has implemented a comprehensive program including safety training, interactive competitions, and safety checks to boost emergency response and risk awareness across campus, ensuring a secure environment for research and innovation.

Safety Training Room: A New Hub for Campus Safety

On June 4th, GTIIT held the launching ceromony of Safety Production Month and the unveiling of Safety Training Room. Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT stressed that "campus safety is no trivial matter," urging all faculty and students to proactively master safety knowledge and skills, learn to identify potential hazards, adhere to the principle of "early detection, timely reporting, and immediate action," and jointly create a safe and harmonious campus.

Yigal Cohen, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director General of GTIIT emphasized that GTIIT integrates safety education into daily teaching and research activities, calling on everyone to embed safety awareness into everyday lives and enhance risk identification capabilities to safeguard campus safety collectively.

Unveiling of Safety Training Room

Following the ceremony, attendees visited the newly inaugurated Safety Training Room, which is built to GTIIT’s laboratory safety standards and serves as a platform for pre-lab familiarization and safety protocol training. 

The room features safety demonstration videos, fully equipped 1:1 replica lab setups with QR-code operation guides, and a first-aid training zone where participants can systematically learn life-saving techniques such as CPR and the Heimlich maneuver, effectively strengthening emergency response capabilities.

Diverse Events Bring Safety Awareness

Beyond the launch of the Safety Training Room, GTIIT also organized a series of engaging safety initiatives. On June 6th, the South Campus canteen transformed into a safety workshop—students and teachers gathered to share safety tips in lively exchanges. The excitement peaked with an online safety quiz, drawing enthusiastic participation from passersby and reinforcing campus-wide safety awareness.

Additionally, safety-themed posters have been displayed across high-traffic areas, covering key topics such as traffic safety, lab safety protocols, and biosafety guidelines. These visual reminders encourage the community to stay alert to risks and foster a strong culture of safety on campus.

The "Safety Production Month" campaign is now in full swing. On June 16th, a Safety Consultation Event will be held in the North Campus Research Building lobby, where EHS Office experts will provide professional safety guidance. On June 18th, the Analytical Chemistry Teaching Lab will host a "Competition of Laboratory Hazards Identification", inviting participants to become "safety detectives". Your active involvement is crucial – let's work together to strengthen campus safety network!

GTIIT will continue to enhance campus safety management, upgrade facilities, and institutionalize safety education, ensuring a secure environment that upholds GTIIT’s ethos of "Dream it. Do it.".
